This study examines strategies to mitigate electric vehicle (EV) fire risks in enclosed spaces, emphasizing the growing concern over EV fire safety due to the increasing prevalence of EVs. The analysis explores the causes and frequency of EV fires, comparative studies with internal combustion engine vehicle fires, and research initiatives aimed at understanding and mitigating these risks. The brief highlights global efforts in developing safety regulations, policies, and standards for EV fire safety, showcasing specific measures adopted by countries to address these challenges. Our findings illustrate that while EV fires are less common than traditional vehicle fires, the need for continued research, regulation, and emergency responders’ readiness on EV fire risks and safety measures is critical as the adoption of EVs increases.
